All About the Players Dart League

What the PDL Is...

Formed in the Summer of 2009 by a bunch of dart players who decided to found the kind of League that we wanted to play in.  Simple tasks like keeping standings and statistics updated, as well as more progressive ideas like Individual Leagues and fostering new players to the National level, became our mission.

We make all decisions with the Players in mind, indeed our name was chosen just for that reason.  Listening to your ideas and providing the best possible darting experience we can is our ultimate goal, and we hope we can do a good job!

Below, find a list of our main concerns and focal points:

  • To promote and encourage the play of Darts to grow the sport.
  • To increase the awareness and exposure of local players to Regional, National, and International Darts.
  • To provide increased competitive levels for shooters who want to challenge their abilities.
  • To provide fun social divisons for those who just want a fun night out.
  • To promote local Sponsor businesses through dart matches and tournaments.
  • To provide the deepest and most thorough statistical breakdowns of Darts available.
  • To keep innovating and evolving for our players, so we can be the best Players Dart League possible!

In our efforts to be the best for all of our Players, we welcome questions and comments.  If you have any, send us a quick email!

What activities do we take part in?

Currently we run two types of Dart League, an Individual League and a traditional Team-Based League. A brief description of each follows below, and complete rules can be found on our Forms page:

Team-Based League

Run on Monday nights, this league consists of Team-based play.  Teams are made up of 4-10 people.  Teams are then grouped into divisions of 6-8 teams by skill and a schedule of 14 weeks (8 teams) or 15 weeks (6 teams) is generated.  Sponsor Bars pay the fee for the team, making darts FREE for players, and schedules include both Home and Away matches.  Statistics and Standings are kept and updated weekly on our website.  Two Major seasons are held during the year, the Spring (February - June) and Fall (September - January).  We also hold a short, 6 week, less serious and more playful summer season to make sure no-one gets bored!  If you're a Sponsor, Player, or Team Captain and are interested in joining, visit our Join! page.  Even if you've never thrown a dart, we have a place for you, so give it a shot!

Individual League

This is our newer, more progressive league.  Based on the "Premier League" in Britain, 6 or 8 individuals are placed in a division.  Each week, each player will have only one opponent, playing a best of 5 set of 501 and a best of 5 set of Cricket against that opponent.  In this way, every player is guaranteed 6-10 games per night, and the total number of games is just about equal to our Team-Based leagues (ergo, Sponsors get their business).  This League runs for 6 weeks (5 opponents and 1 Makeup week) and then funnels into Final Tournaments.  Tournament Winners not only get bragging rights and a beautiful plaque, but also a Sponsorship to the next Regional DPNY or ADO Regional for the game they win, 501 or cricket.  These Tournaments have entry fees betwee $50-$110 and could lead to a spot at the National Final... just for playing in a free dart league!
